Ayurvedic Recipes:
Baked Pears


Pears on a tree

Pears are Vata-balancing and
Pitta-balancing
when fully ripe and sweet.

You will need:

  • 2 pears, peeled, cored and halved
  • 1 clove
  • 1 pinch crushed cardamom
  • 1 pinch cinnamon
  • 1 pinch nutmeg powder
  • 1/4 tsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp ghee
  • 2 tbsps turbinado sugar

 


Place the pears on a greased pie dish.

Blend together the lemon juice and the spices.

Sprinkle the pears with the spice mix. Cover and set aside.

In a small bowl combine the ghee and sugar well, and then spread the mixture over the pears.

Bake at 350 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes.

Discard the whole spices and serve warm.

(Serves 2-4)
