Materials:
1-2 tbsp hair oil suited to your needs
for balance (herb-infused oil is preferred),
plastic squeeze bottle, pot of very warm water,
old cotton towel or shower cap, bath mat or
towel to protect your floor if needed.
Step 1. Pour the oil into the squeeze
bottle and shut bottle tightly.
Step 2. Place the bottle in the warm water
for five minutes or until the oil heats up
to comfortably warm.
Step 3. Stand on your towel or mat
in a comfortably warm, draft-free room.
Step 4. Squeeze the oil a little at
a time on to your scalp, much as you would
apply hair color, starting with the crown
of your head and working your way down the
sides and back until the entire scalp is covered.
Pause between each squeeze to rub the oil
onto your hair and scalp briefly so that it
does not drip down the sides. Place remaining
oil on your palm and work into the strands
of your hair.
Step 5. Next, massage the oil into your
scalp and hair, giving each part of the scalp
adequate attention. Use gentle pressure and
work the oil in as if you were kneading dough.
This will help stimulate circulation. Work
oil into the strands of your hair, all the
way to the tips.
Step 6. Leave the oil on overnight if
you can, or at least for three to four hours.
Protect your linens by using an old towel
or shower cap as a wrap for your hair.
Step 7. Shampoo your hair, using a
gentle herbal shampoo and conditioner, and
lukewarm water.
Step 8. Pat your scalp and hair with a
towel and gently work in a dab of light, non-herbal
oil such as almond oil or jojoba oil into
wet hair for added conditioning and shine.
Let your hair dry naturally if possible. If
using a blow dryer, keep the setting at low.
Step 9. Gently work any tangles out of
your hair, using a wide-toothed comb or a
brush.
Note: If you have really long hair, you
will require more oil. The oil should be adequate
to cover your scalp and the length of your
hair lightly, with a little more for the crown
of your head.
